Ode to the Pants

Rich has owned these pants since long before I knew him. It wasn't so bad in the beginning. They were...well, clearly well-loved and comfortable. At first, they looked pretty good. There weren't any noticeable tears. There was just this one, which was on a seam and just not terribly visible because of the color of the lining.

As our relationship lengthened, however, the pants began to experience some physical injury. It was like they were the physical manifestation of Rich's bachelor-dom.

In the past two years, they have suffered. There's the paint from painting the master bedroom closet in the new house.

And the fraying from all the walking about, going to the store and wandering around town.

And then, the final straw, the knee rip while doing something innocent, but which pulled the worn fabric in just the wrong way and led to the inevitable end.

And so, I salute the loyal pants. They served Rich well. I will not miss their near daily presence in my life, but I can appreciate that they were well love and appear in many photographs. Stay tuned as we hunt down a pair of acceptable replacements.

RIP.
