Neena and JJ were in town, visiting for a week after holiday festivities in Portland. It was wonderful to see them. I can't believe how much Neena has grown. We had lovely chats about imaginary things.
They came to visit one evening, but Rich and Drew had to go out. I made dinner and we hung out for a bit. A few days later, they came back to have brunch and Drew and Neena played all morning.
We're all sitting around in a circle waiting for Jasper to hop. This is Jasper. In case you can't see it, on Jasper's underside is a suction cup. And his legs are flexible but like to be perpendicular to the ground. So he hops.
See Jasper in the air? He really looks like a bug.
After a while of watching Jasper, the kids got bored and out came the Legos.
Rich and I, however, were still obsessed with getting a clear shot of Jasper in the air, so...we dug in a got ready to pounce.
And here, I am rewarded for my perseverance and obsessiveness. :)
Neena got really into the Legos and was pretending to give us all shots. Like we needed medicine or something.
We took the kids to the park before lunch to get them good and tired. Drew finally met someone slower than him, but proved quite compassionate about waiting for Neena when she got upset that he waited and held her hand while they were running.
The kids enjoyed playing telephone at the park. It took a little while to get the hang of things, but they had a good time.
Fascinatingly, Drew asked to go on the swings, something he never requests. Swings were never his thing. I love them and Rich likes them, too, but Drew has only recently expressed any interest in them. Most of the time, though, he runs up to them and swings on his stomach, facing the ground so his feet touch the ground.
Hopefully we will make it up to Calgary to see Neena in her native surrounds one day!
