Better rested

Not well rested, just better than last night. Improvement is good.

Harmless

She looks it, but boy, between 1 am and 7 am, she's got a wickedly pitched wail.

Burping

It works for both of them.

Kitty pillow

The cat would have stayed there, but didn't like the crying.

Cockroach

She fell asleep on Amy's lap.

Just a little blue...er...yellow

Katie has just a touch of jaundice. The worst of it is actually the foot pricks for the blood test. She's got a UV pad that we put on her back and wrapped her up. Doesn't seem to bother her as long as I don't put her on her back onto it. Another blood test tomorrow and we may be done with this thing.

Seatbelt

Changing table

The baby likes to stay awake at night, so she was sleepy on the changing table this morning.

Bagel

Katie has a doctor's appointment this morning, preceded by a blood draw to check her for jaundice. We stopped for bagels after the lab. Drew chose his own - a chocolate chip bagel with cream cheese. Breakfast of big brothers, apparently.

Katherine Lily Stone

Our due date for the baby was April 2, but she wasn't having any of that. On the morning of April 7, the Doctors decided to induce Amy's pregnancy. It's a slow process, and we spent the first day and night in the delivery room, waiting for something to happen.

At around 10:30am on Friday after a long night, Amy's body was finally getting ready to push out a baby. We had a solid two hours of pushing, and while I got a little woozy at the beginning of this process, we focused on what we were there for - getting out a new little girl. It took 2 hours, and at 12:41, a baby was born.

This is Dr Gould, the Dr that helped deliver the baby. He had a real Doogie Howser thing going on - much younger than either of us. He knew what he was doing though, and he fixed Amy up after getting the baby out.
The baby was cleaned up by the nursing staff right away. Amy's mom came in and helped out. She was 7lb 1oz, 19".
Amy's mom couldn't get enough of the baby. Here she is holding her with Drew.
Drew couldn't wait to hold the baby, and he had his chance.
She loves being swaddled up. Here's our little baby burrito, sleeping in the plexiglass cradle at the hospital.
We named her Katherine Lily Stone a couple hours before leaving the hospital. It took a long time to pick a name that fit her, and this should do just fine.

We're finally home, and very happy to be here. Here's Katherine, sleeping on our bed at home after a good meal. She's covering her face up with her little gloved hands.

There will be many, many more pictures of her posted here soon.

Like father...

Mini-Rich likes his technology, too.

Daily reading

We didn't have any kid's books at the hospital,  so Drew did his daily reading on Amy's ipad.

Another tooth out

After much anguish, it was a painless extraction.

I'm getting stronger every day!

Drew tells me that eating his fruits and vegetables every day makes him stronger.

Lamer

No one thinks this is funny but me.

Preferred parking

Wife is now a full 9th months pregnant,  might as well.  Especially since Arden fair parking is a huge debacle.

Vietnamese style grilled pork

We're getting close.  This needed a bit less coriander, a bit more garlic and sugar,  and a touch of sesame.

Like when she was a kitten

She curls up like she's trying to become small again or something.

Bunny watching

It's prime rabbit season in our neighborhood, so Drew and I went out to watch them.  There's one behind him in the photo.

Swimming

Drew has been doing great with his swim lessons. He should be quite a fish this summer.

Drew's Remarkable House

That is what he calls it, anyway. I don't know why we bother buying toys. These are all boxes from various baby present deliveries. He has converted the house into condos for his various stuffed animals.

Drew's celebratory Oreo stick

He had a great week and was accepted into the GATE program.

Rich, in his element

Putting a new heat sink on the ridiculously large and gratuitous video card. Drew is also in his element...sitting in a big box, reading a Lego magazine.

Puberty came early

And with oddly dark brown facial hair that came in somewhat patchily.

For proper documentation

In the event she ever needs some teeth cleaning or other treatment due to the consumption of human food. Rich did it.

Baby blanket

A project that has been going for some time. Made with a stash of cashmere yarn that I've had for a while. I'm pretty sure I maximized it - I had just a little bit of yarn left, but I don't think I could have made it around again for another lacy edge row.

Now all I have to do it block it so that it lays flat.

Laser eye cat

Forget about the teeth and claws, it's her eyes you have to watch out for.

Really?

She likes the current transitional  state of our bedroom. All the boxes and this shelf are a great playground. Wonder what she'll do after it's all gone.

Rich's cake

One of two. I split the cakes so he can have the other cake on a rainy day. Or next week.

Drew building

This is Drew building a setup for his game "angry darts", and narrating the action. We got a new camcorder for baby recording, and are still testing it out.

App for that

I have a kick counting app. Very handy.

Sunday, January 30, 2011

Rich finally gets the cat.

She normally only cuddles with me, but since the great furniture move, she's been more receptive to him. Today, he coaxed her into lying down with him. Not quite a full curl, but a good start.

Swim lessons

Our friend Rita is teaching drew to swim. On a rainy day. We're hoping he's a fish by summer.

Eagerly waiting for someone to come home

...and let her bite them. At least after the purring and treats.

Bad ram

My new pc build ended up giving Amy a bunch of blue screens. The ram test ended up showing the problem. Frys caved and swapped it for non broken stuff.

Dr's office

A perfect check up.

More teeth gone

Licking the beater

Cake batter? Frosting? No, it's mashed potatoes.

Mac'ing on the ladies

Somehow, they weren't receptive to his advances.

Smug Boy

Eating fried prawns from Hamoni.

Dad and Drew

Hanging out, playing on their "phones."

Pre natal yoga

Drew likes to participate. Sharky just likes watching.
