Close encounter
The cat ventured up to lie on the bed with us. It was short lived as the cat nipped at the girl and was banished.

At the big table, now
Katie's been cranky about the Bumbo of late, twisting and turning, so I figured I'd put the travel high chair on our table and see how she likes it. It went on super easy and she seems to be intrigued. It's huge for her, but she'll grow into it.
See how little her feet stick out? Just wait a few months - she'll have her knees there anytime, now. :)

Unimpressed
She's totally unimpressed with carrots. Despite the fact that they're super sweet fresh organic baby carrots and ridiculously sweet for carrots, she was less than thrilled. Ah, well, three more days of carrots before moving on.

Napinator!

She slept 90 minutes this morning. Now on to an afternoon nap! It's the beginning of semi regular napping! Yay!!!

Break down in negotiations

When I wouldn't take Sophie the giraffe in exchange for my Kindle, Katie decided to take it by force. If only she could crawl...

First solids!
Katie always starts fussing whenever she smells food or sees people eating at e table. So I finally caved. I was going to until her six month birthday, but she's REALLY interested in food. So I gave her some rice cereal mixed with a whole lot of expressed milk. I think she did pretty well. I'd say at least half went down the throat. the rest was graciously donated to the bib. We'll do a few more days of rice cereal and then move on to homemade applesauce.
Drew and Teeghan
Drew to the rescue with a bottle! I may hav to start letting Drew give Katie a bottle every once in a while. He seemed to like it.

Sitting
Well, this pretty much solidifies it - she's getting solids tomorrow. She is doing so well at sitting up by herself. She only occasionally pitches backwards, which is why the boppy is there if I am not. And she seems to enjoy the autonomy.
Gnawing on bread...
I made myself some toast and Katie, smelling food, started fussing. So I brought her to the table, sat her in the bumbo and gave her the heel off the loaf of sourdough. She was intrigued and played with it. I then thought again and took it away...and then had to give it back. She loved on it for a solid fifteen minutes before I took it away for good. She seemed to really enjoy having something to put in her mouth that tasted like something. Maybe we'll start solids in the next day or two...
