Last of the N's

This is Katie's last size N diaper. As you can see, she is rather upset by the transition to come. Daddy is unhappy that the size 1's lack the easy to identify wet indicator that he only realized existed on the N's about three weeks ago. So sad.
Katie loves her toy

She plays with it for a while in the car seat. It crinkles and rattles...it is also as large as her head which makes it entertaining to watch her play.
Post lesson snack

...before returning to the water. "18 Rabbits gives me the energy I need to burn to go swimming." He may be angling for a sponsorship. But only for their Cheeky Cherry Chocolate bars. He has declined others, citing that Funky Figs can't possibly be good for you.

Tricky baby

She was asleep in her crib and then woke up after less than an hour. I thought maybe she was done napping. I got her out, changed her diaper and then nursed her. She promptly fell asleep nursing. So back into the crib she went. Twenty minutes later, she wails for a solid fifteen minutes. I figure now she's really done. NOT! After ten minutes of soothing and calming her down, she asleep on me. Sigh. She is evolving.
Smiley!

After a nice long 2+ hr. morning nap. We're hanging out for a bit, then going to see Kung Fu Panda 2 with Drew.

Watching mom watching Drew

Hanging out during Drew's swimming lesson. We did a couple of laps around the pools. Katie decided that hanging out in the stroller was better.
Garlic scapes

Rich's mom, Gail, and Drew cut these off her garlic plants on his last day in Oregon, the 11th. They then traveled to Redding, where they, and the boy, were picked up by Rich and brought to Sacramento. Today, they made it to Berkeley, where my mom pronounced them to be perfect. They will be turned into Korean-style pickles. One of my favorites! Mom is already asking if she can have Gail's garlic scapes next year.

Hanging poolside

It's going to hit 100 tomorrow. We're close to that today. So our family heads to the pool. Katie likes to chew on the fists as she watches the general movement around her.

For Drew

He turned down strawberry pie at Great-Grandma's house, so I made him some chocolate covered strawberries for his dessert.
Pie success!

Made entirely during Katie's nap, except for the crust, which I didn't manage to make during the morning nap because it was so short. Not bad looking. And all the pieces tasted pretty good, individually.

Finally! Warm weather!
Katie's got all these cute warm summer outfits, but it's been cold! You can sort of see her sporting a band aid on each thigh from her shots yesterday.

Always ready...
...for a fight? She sleeps like this when not swaddled. An arm always makes it into a fighting position.
