Katie has been sleeping for over two hours in this nest thing. The down comforter is under her with a burp cloth on top, then her blanket anchored with a cushion, a suggestion from my mom. Apparently the weight of the cushion is like swaddling - keeps baby secure feeling, etc. But this goes against so much advice from the docs related to not putting babies on soft surfaces as a choking hazard and not puttig blankets on them for the very same reason. Sigh.

Aimee used to sleep like this with me. She stopped showing up during the pregnancy. Since Katie's birth, she has transferred her feline affection to Rich. This culminated last night in this complete transfer, showing me what's what. Maybe she'll come back after Katie is weaned?

I picked up a newer pack & play for the family room downstairs. After an hour and a half of sort of trying to sleep, Katie managed to fall asleep. I clipped her fingernails and then moved her to the bassinet. So far so good...half and hour and counting.

Korean baby torture!

Katie was so very good during our overnight trip to my mom's house this week. She suffered through being fawned over by a slew of Korean relatives who examined, poked and prodded and made all sorts of observations as far as who she resembled. My cousin, Ah-young, is particularly adept at baby torture - while Katie was asleep, she documented the technique.

Katie and I fell asleep on the sofa. Sadly a call woke me up, but she slept right through it. With some deft maneuvering, I managed to move her off me so I could move. How cute - the blanket matches her outfit.

Drew moved into a cubicle of a co-worker of mine that just retired. He's the new nintendo expert of the office.

Katie  had her 1 month checkup today. Still on the small side at 7 pounds 3.4 ounces. I had a hard time believing that given how often and enthusiastically she feeds. Anyhow, the forward movement was enough to appease the doctor, so we're good.

Afterwards, we did some shopping. We are now on brand #4 of pacifiers. And checked out the new quilt shop, which appears to be owned by women who worked at the shop that closed in December. And then picked up drive through lunch. (I keep hoping for a drive through Vietnamese place.) And wrapped things up by dropping off some medical paperwork for Drew at his school.

By the end, Katie was so done being in her car seat. The heat didn't help. I changed her into more comfy breathable clothes when we got home and fed her. She then promptly passed out. Ah to be four weeks old.
